Abstract

Accreditation, in the field of higher education, is a process that seeks to ensure appropriate conditions for quality education; in the case of higher education it refers to each university career. I mean, careers are accredited, not college. Its purposes are to help give consumers of higher education - parents, students and employers - that a career meets minimum standards, and to encourage institutions to improve what they do beyond such minimum standards.
There are aspects that are considered important for the conditions of validity of the teaching process to be filled, which must be carefully evaluated by the institution initiating the process (self-assessment); should be checked by academic peers and eventually be the subject of a decision by the accreditation board. This resolution is valid for a time, three or more years, and then must be repeated if there is an interest in maintaining accreditation of that career.
