Abstract

I intend to show that the current Costa Rican monetary system is the best of the possible and that, although it does not guarantee against monetary instability, it does attenuate it, and when it comes on it does not have the insurvable consequences on the usual economic activity in other schemes. This institutionality has been achieved inopinada, the result of the score, but it has been a successful result that we must defend at all costs, and oppose reforms that seek to restore what we overcome, that is, to return to the absolute value of the national currency, because the advantage we have over the other systems derives precisely from not being our legal average currency of payment , a condition which, in our country, is held only by the contractually agreed currency. This institutionality is much more efficient in achieving the stability of the national economy than those suggested by economists and jurists of various inclinations and, therefore, we must stick to it, even if we have reached it by chiripa.
