Post streptococcal glomerulophritis a systematic revision for consultation care

Abstract
Poststreptococcal glomerulonephritis (GNPE) is a pathology that has existed through the years, which incidence has been decreasing thanks to preliminary treatment of infection by Streptococcus pyogenes in its different clinical variants, whose complication over time leads to the typical manifestation of glomerulonephritis, infants being the main affected population, however, most have good prognosis. The disease’s pathophysiology is explained by the existence of circulating immune complexes made up of nephritogenic antigens and IgG antibodies, triggering an immune reaction, through the classical pathway, and the activation of the complement cascade through the alternative pathway. The symptoms include generalized edema, hypertension, proteinuria, oliguria, and hematuria, so treatment is aimed at symptomatic management. The diagnosis is established clinically, with a history of infection, which can also be complemented with laboratory, imaging and pathological studies.
