Abstract

The pericardial diseases encompass all those congenital , inflammatory disorders such as pericarditis (dry , effusive and constrictive efusivoconstrictiva), neoplasms and cysts , affecting the heart lining membrane called pericardium. The etiologic classification comprises:  infectious pericarditis, pericarditis in the context of autoimmune diseases , myocardial infarction syndrome and autoreactive pericarditis (chronic) . The etiologic agents that can cause disease of the pericardium are very heterogeneous , ranging from infections by viruses, bacteria or other microorganisms to invasion by neoplastic diseases to non specific inflammation and secondary pericardial disease to cardiac or systemic diseases. However, the impact of these different etiologies can be classified into 3 main groups of clinical manifestations : a)symptoms resulting from inflammation of the pericardium , resulting mainly in pericardial pain and fever b) symptoms due to production pericardial effusion , with its most extreme manifestation , cardiac obstruction , and c)symptoms due to thickening and calcification of the pericardium retraction , ie , constrictive pericarditis.
